Pontian Heritage Centre

The Pontian Heritage Centre serves as an important cultural institution dedicated to preserving and showcasing the unique heritage of the Pontian district, located in the southwestern part of Johor. Pontian has a distinctive history as a major agricultural and fishing center, known particularly for its pineapple plantations, traditional fishing villages, and unique cultural blend of Malay, Chinese, and Indian communities. The heritage center was established to document and preserve the traditional ways of life, cultural practices, and historical development of this coastal district that has played a significant role in Johor's economic and social development.

The center features comprehensive exhibits about traditional pineapple cultivation, which made Pontian famous throughout Southeast Asia, traditional fishing methods and boat-building techniques used by local fishing communities, displays of traditional crafts and cultural artifacts from various ethnic communities, and historical photographs and documents that chronicle the district's development from a rural agricultural area to a modern administrative center. The heritage center also houses collections of traditional tools, household items, and cultural objects that represent the daily lives of Pontian's diverse communities.
